Welcome to Geekdom.........

If you know me personally, then you know Trevor the Star Wars collecting geek. Usually I am greeted with strange looks when people see my collection. I get questioned why I waste my time and money over something so silly. What people do not realize is they have silly hobbies and fetishes just like me. The difference is mine is not as socially acceptable as others. I live in Oklahoma. In Oklahoma you have two choices. OU or OSWho. Football season is right around the corner. The whole state of Oklahoma is gearing up to be more crazy and fanatical about OU and OSU football than I ever am when it comes to Star Wars collecting. Yet, I get the weird looks. Oh well, life will go on. What I have done is created another blog for my hobby. I am hoping to connect with people that find collecting fascinating. Most of you probably do not care, but I thought I would let you know. The blog is The Star Wars Collector. It is a place that I can use all of this seemingly useless information in my head.

Another War list.............

Time to list out my top 5 war movies made in 1980 - current. This is a real tough list. I must lay down some guidelines. Many movies take place during wartime, but it is hard to consider it a war movie. Example: Schindler's List. This movie is not on the list because it does not fit the criteria that the main characters are in the military. Schindler would be my number one, but it is about the Holocaust. Some movies take place in wars that never have actually happened. Red Dawn, Star Wars, and The Matrix have war in them. Red Dawn would meet my criteria because it is a war that could of actually happened. The cause of the war came from actual circumstances. Fictional stories that happen in a historical war are included (Ex. Saving Private Ryan). Mini-Series do count. They are a mini-series because of length. They are not typically watched in one sitting (even though I have watched all ten hours of Band of Brothers in one sitting before). Movies that have military characters, but no war situation do not count (Ex. Top Gun). War movies have grown in complexity. Before 1980, it was simple. Since then filmmakers have searched for the depth and complexity of characters in wartime.

I will first list all of my nominations. These are the movies that I considered to put on the list.

Band of Brothers, Red Dawn, Saving Private Ryan, Platoon, We Were Soldiers, Enemy at the Gates, U-571, The Last of the Mohicans, The Patriot, Gettysburg, Glory, Black Hawk Down, Three Kings, and Braveheart.

I put the nomination list out there so you all do not think I forgot your favorite war movie.

At last. My Top 5:

5. Glor.......Black Hawk Down
4. We Were Soldiers
3. Braveheart
2. Saving Private Ryan
1. Band of Brothers

Let me know what you think.

I am back baby!!!!.............

Greetings to the WORLD!!! I am back. The summer of darkness, the summer of regret, the summer of no internet is over!!! I now have My Lady moved in to Shawnee. She is the one that makes the big bucks and can afford cable internet. Her having internet is the same thing as having it myself. Expect big things. Expect miraculous things. Expect amazement beyond the.......beyond. I will actually communicate to the world on a regular basis. I now have an announcement. Yes, ladies and gentlemen. The DOT COM has been updated. It is not much as of right now. But, in between work, church, and buying My Lady flowers I am actively working on the DOT COM. Believe it or not you will see change. Prepare yourself. I know change is hard.............
