That is One Way to do it.................

Sorry Garrett, I did not have it in mind to not post for Lent. If I had an indication that your money pot for when I would post again had high dollar potential, I would of made a deal with you and waited it out till Easter.

Tell me how I can get 40 comments for a blog entry? Now, I am not this super celebrity (even though I have a stellar personality) or I do not offer this awesome intellectual blog that solves everyone's problems. Since I am not one of those, I am not capable of luring in the attention. It appears I have stumbled on a way. Regularly post for some time and then just STOP, for a few weeks. BAM, 40 comments arrive on my last post. Amazing!

Has it been a week?.........

Today is Ash Wednesday, for those of you, or should I say most of you, who did not know. Their is a tradition that is seen in the Catholic church called "Lent." Now I do not claim to know much of anything about Lent and its history. What I do know is that you spend the next 40 days abstaining from some "worldly" desire or something like that. In case you do not know, Easter Sunday is in 40 days. I like the idea of Lent so much better than New Year's resolutions. I am a spiritual person, and I am more apt to stay with something that has a spiritual base. New Year's resolutions are made out the glutton's end of a year. As we approach Valentine's Day or some may say the Black Day (not for me this year muhahaha), most have ended their New Year's resolution. As I see it, Lent is a journey, an abstaining from something to focus more on God. For a measly 40 days cut some crap out of your life to make a little more room for God. It is a period of time to back away from some stuff in our lives because it would be better for us financially, physically, and hopefully most of all spiritually. The end of Lent is the observance of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The importance of the death and resurrection of Jesus has shaken eternity forever.

I have gone pretty simple, but will be a big challenge because of how it is ingrained in our culture. I will abstain from soda and fastfood for my Lent. This will not only be healthy for me, but will also save money. Fastfood is defined as a restaurant that does not have a waiter/waitress. I am allowed pizza and Robb's Smokehouse. No more than once a week for each. God help me on my quest.
