Me, Fantasy Baseball, Dominate.........
In the world of fantasy sports I have never been a dominating force. I usually have done average and some leagues I have even stopped paying attention too. For some reason I have clicked this year. To honor this rare occasion, I am going to brag about it.
My league is done through Yahoo! and is an 8 team private league.
Of my nine current offensive starters, only one is not batting above .300. Who is that one person? Jason Bay, who is batting .295 with 24HR and 76RBI's. To round out my outfield I have Manny Ramirez and Ichiro Suzuki. I am really hurting there. My OF is so good I have to put Alex Rios (who is finally off the DL, .332AVG, 15HR, 55 RBI) as my utility player. Since Rios is back I benched former Royal Raul Ibanez. .272AVG, 21HR, 79RBI's is pretty darn good for a back up. You think my OF is studly, you should see my pitching staff.....
Pitching. I could seriously have 4 to 5 twenty game winners this year. If things went really good I could have 6 to 7. All I will say is Halladay, Santana, Penny, Liriano, Harang, Lester, Gacia, and Bonderman. I am actually starting Liriano as a RP, because he is classified as a SP and RP. Basically, I do not care about saves (I do have Jenks). I dominate every other pitching catagory.
What is the key? The Waver Wire (WW). Eight of my sixteen current starters I did not even draft. The pitcher with the lowest ERA in the league I got off the WW (Liriano, 1.96ERA). I drafted pitchers good. I just happen to pick up guys in the later picks that are having an awesome season. Along with Liriano I picked up Harang, Bonderman(who I hav not started in a while), and Lester (who was called up from the minors and I snagged him after his first two victories). I have been benching Freddy Garcia to start Lester. Offensively, I picked up Rios, Brian McCann (the hot hitting catcher .337AVG), and Justin Morneau (.315AVG, 27HR, 84RBI).
I have finally caught on to a few things this year. The draft is important, but the waver wire is key. I have been able to beat the other fantasy players in the WW. That is why I am dominating!!!
I have a public league that I am in second place. Might be third after this week. I have done well in the WW. It is tougher pickings with 12 teams. I got killed the first week, so I hit the WW hard and picked up the pace to end up tied for first for a week. Now, I am second and hoping my players pull through.
