Fantasy Football is here....................

Even though I am currently in first place in both fantasy baseball leagues that I am in, I have my eyes on the coming football season. Tonight I drafted for one of the at least two leagues that I will be in this year. This league is the serious one with serious people. I have never paid to play fantasy sports before, but I thought I would try. That means their is a cash prize for doing well in this league. The idea of paying for the league means it will be more competitive. In the usual Yahoo! Fantasy leagues you will always have your guys that give up and not attend to their teams. This league is also different in a few ways than what I am used too. We get to start 2 quarterbacks and a head coach. If your head coach wins that week, you get 5 points. We have 16 teams divided into two leagues. It works like the AFC and NFC, except you will only play the other league if you make it to the Superbowl. Each set of 8 teams get to pick from the whole NFL roster. That means P. Manning could be on both Super Bowl teams. Here is my draft results.

QB - Trent Green, Jake Delhome, Byron Leftwich, and Mark Brunell
RB - Shaun Alexander, Clinton Portis, Cory Dillon, and Joseph Addai
WR - Chad Johnson, Hines Ward, Santana Moss, Deion Branch, Koren Robinson, and Chad Jackson
TE - Todd Heap and Ben Troupe
K - Mike Vanderjagt and Shayne Grahm
HC - Herman Edwards (KC) and Jim Mora (ATL)
DEF/ST - Pittsburgh and Cincinnati

The DaVinci Commode..................

It is done! If you remember back to one of my post in May, I stated I was going to read the DaVinci Code. The catch was I would only read it while sitting on my commode (h-t Dave for coining the name DaVinci Commode). I estimated a chapter per visit and I think that was pretty accurate. Since May 27th it took me roughly 105 visits to my Commode to finish the book. It might have been less. Some chapters were pretty small. That is in the neighborhood of three months worth of commode reading.

What did I think of the book? Whoopdi freakin dooo!

If this dude can sell over 40 million copies of this average book, then I should be in business. I think my Blog (of course I am bias) is more interesting than this book. If you are going to screw around with truth, you should at least make it interesting.

The Religion Section.........

For some reason the Daily Oklahoman was delivered to us today. I think they will randomly do that to encourage you to subscribe. I actually picked it up and read through some of it. I read the RELIGION section and something caught my eye. The word "Jesus" was not used at all. I have no idea if this is a regular occurrence for the Oklahoman. I do not regularly read it. Usually if I get a paper, I get it for the classifieds. Every once in a while, something on the front page will catch my eye and I will buy one. Getting back to the point. Jesus was not important enough to be mentioned on the RELIGION page today. Question. Would Jesus have been written on your page of life today?

A question for you......

If you could live for 6 months or so any where in the U.S., where would it be? Actually, give me a top three.

Another song...........

It's difficult to say goodbye after all this time
The rain will fall down, replenishing all of our broken dreams
And this burning tree that's withering will bloom again,
would you believe?

Goodbye, Goodbye.

Walk away. It's time to say goodbye.
Goodbye, Goodbye.
Walk away. It's hard to say goodbye.

Now all that's left are pictures on the wall.

Memories and stories that are told.
The more often told the bigger they get.
Create a legacy, lest we forget.

Goodbye, Goodbye.

Walk away. It's time to say goodbye.

No longer can I hold on to this defeated change in heart (I swear).

It's time to sing "fare thee well" to life as we know it.
My voice it will, you know I will be, yes it will be still.

SOMETHING WOKE ME UP

IN THE MIDST OF DREAM AND FANTASY
HALF WAY THERE.
BUT HE ALWAYS FILLS MY CUP.
AND HE LIFTS ME UP (oh how he lifts me up).

Goodbye, Goodbye.
Walk away. It's time to say goodbye.
I never took the time to stop and realize
that death takes many forms.
Even while alive.

"Can't see my eyes, cause my mouth is to wide open"...........

We can not claim ownership for what God does!!! (if I were saying that line, it would be said in a really loud voice). Why are we so prideful about what is happening at our own local church? We act like God has extra special focus on US! Do you realize that we are only a part of the body. "The eye cannot say to the hand, 'I don't need you!' And the head cannot say to the feet, 'I don't need you!'" -1 Corinthians 12:21. That is exactly what we do when we do not work with other believers and stay in our own stupid four walls. When we talk about what God is doing it is always in reference to our church name. God does not care about our church buildings. He cares about his Church, as in His people. When we hear the word church we always think of our building with a stupid name on the side. We should be thinking about God's people when we talk about church. WE DO NOT OWN ANYTHING!!! ONLY GOD CAN CLAIM YOU!!! YOU CANNOT CLAIM ANYTHING!!! Get off your high horse about what God is doing at your local church and start focusing about what God is doing with His Church.

Two songs to consider............

Time has had its way with me
My broken, tired hands can't build a thing
The wires that have held me still
Embedded now in flesh, define my will
The idle of my days has won
The empty I have fed has made me numb
Despite what you will find in me
The failures of my past still swell beneath

(Pre-chorus:)
I need a heart that carries on through the pain
When the walls start collapsing again
Give me a soul that never ceases to follow
Despite the infection within

(Chorus:)
Our careless feet leaving trails
Never minding the fragile dirt that we all end in

This is where I find my fall
The cares that held me life don't work at all
And every step away from here
Is closer to the plague I hold so dear

Awaiting my end
Breathing in the day that finds me new
Redemption begins
Bleeding out the flaws in place of you

Deteriorate by Demon Hunter

what makes you different from one another
why do you argue about who you follow
there is no man that you belong to
there's only one God that can claim you (1 Corinthians 3:5-7)

I don't care if you don't speak in tongues (1 Corinthians 13:1)
I don't care if you're into submersion (Matthew 3:16)
what does it matter if wear a liturgical robe or prophesy
and say God said so (1 John 4:1)

I just know Jesus is the way
I just know Jesus is the truth
I just know Jesus is the life
I know that Jesus is my God (John 14:6)

do you serve your name or do you serve mankind
would you feel the same if they took down your sign
could you sit next to me if I was Baptist or Presbyterian
or do I need to be a charismatic or Episcopalian (Acts 2:17)

I don't care if you drink grape juice or if it's wine (Matthew 26:27- 29)
and I don't care if you get out of church on time
what does it matter if you praise God with music in your church (Psalm 150)
or you burn your dead or bury them six feet in the dirt

I just know Jesus is the way
I just know Jesus is the truth
I just know Jesus is the life
I know that Jesus is my God (John 14:6)

I don't care if you clap your hands (Psalm 47:1)
I don't care if you get out in the aisle and dance (Psalm 149:3)
what's it matter if someone lets out a hallelujah shout (Psalm 100:1)
have we forgotten what praising Yahweh is all about

I just know Jesus is the way
I just know Jesus is the truth
I just know Jesus is the life
I know that Jesus is my God (John 14:6)

Goals, what?.............

Do you have goals? No, I mean goals that you have actually written down. Everyone could rattle off a list of things they want to do in life. Our little wants change often. What are the things in life that you want to do that mean something to you? What is it that you want to do, that will change you in the process (for the better, of course)?

"I don't want to waste my time until it runs out." -Furthermore

"If time be of all things most precious, wasting time must be the greatest prodigality, since lost time is never found again." -Benjamin Franklin (Justin, prodigality means "extravagant wastefulness")

Amanda can confirm, that I always have ideas flowing through my head. I want to write a book, record an album, finish my 2 unfinished children's books, actually do a podcast every week, have the opportunity to teach the Bible more, publish a comic book, start a business with one of my gazillion business ideas, start a film company that produces quality film from a Christian prospective, be a better husband, eventually(as in, I don't have kids yet) a good father, and the list goes on and on and on and on. Now I am 27 years old and I have not done most of those things. Do not get me wrong, I have done many things. I have had awesome opportunities thus far in life. But, we always have that wanting to do more. I have to remember....

"Life isn't a matter of milestones, but of moments." -Rose Kennedy

I have let myself be overwhelmed with my dreams and ideas. I have so many things I want to do that I end up doing nothing many times.

"I think our business as laymen is to take what we are given and make the best of it." -C.S. Lewis

Written goals are important. Go to the most successful people and you will find that they keep written goals. It is time for me to rewrite my goals. I have five months left in 2006. Let's see what I can do with it.

What are you going to do? Here is my challenge:
Write down 3 small things you want to get done. Items that will only take you a few minutes to accomplish, but for some reason you have not done yet. Focus on those things today and get them done!!! What do I mean by small thing? It could be laundry. It might be organizing your desk. Maybe it is focusing some extra special attention on your spouse. Do 3 things now!!!

Write down 3 things to do in the next week. Then focus on what you need to do everyday to accomplish that goal within the week. Do you have an extra room like me that is in major need of overhaul? It might take a day straight to organize. Of course you do not have a day to waste on it. Organize the room for 30 minutes everyday this week. My room is almost organized! Write those 3 goals down for the week and chip away at them!

What is one major goal you have? Story time. Zig Ziglar was trying to find the time to write his first book See You At the Top. Writing a book takes many hours. Zig broke down his goal. He decided when he wanted to be done with the book and how long it would be. After the division, Zig figured he needed to write a page and a quarter everyday to finish. If I remember right, he wanted to be done in 8 months. Everyday for 8 months Zig typed his page and a quarter. That book sold millions. Does it matter if you write a book and it sells millions? It might to you. What really matters is what the process will do to you. It will change you. It will make you better.

I know this might sound cheesy. Setting goals and focusing on them will help break procrastination and stagnation. I believe God wants us to be focused and goal oriented. Check out Noah, Joseph, Nehemiah, Solomon, Ezra to name a few.

"This is your life. Are you who you want to be?" -Switchfoot
